Dear Fremont Families,
Welcome back from Spring Break! School reopens on Monday, April 7th. Thank you to everyone who attended our Open House on March 26th. We had an amazing turn-out! This was followed by our PTA sponsored Fun Run on March 27th. The Chargers came through with active participation as we ran laps as part of our school-wide fundraiser! Lastly, we ended the week with Charger of the Month recepients and Principal of the Day recognitions.
As we return, we have an exciting and important time ahead of us. With state testing approaching, it’s crucial that we stay focused and ready to give our best effort.
Here are a few reminders and tips as we prepare:
- Stay Positive: Believe in yourselves and the hard work you’ve put in this year. You’ve got this!
- Rest and Recharge: Ensure you’re getting plenty of sleep, eating healthy meals, and managing stress as we approach test days.
- Prepare for Success: Review materials, ask questions, and make sure you’re ready to show what you’ve learned.
- Ask for Help: Our teachers, staff, and I are here to support you every step of the way. Don’t hesitate to reach out if you need anything.
We will host a PBIS Rally as we prepare for testing season at Fremont! See below to access the testing schedule for the month of April. We’re all in this together, and I have every confidence that you will shine. Let’s make this final stretch of the school year count!
Best wishes and let’s make it a great week ahead. Thank you for being an integral part of our school family.
Warm regards,
Dr. Carly Chavez
Principal

Families are able to view students homeroom teacher through the Parent Portal prior to the first day of school. Please remember that the class placement is subject to change through the first days of school as we work towards leveling classes. The Parent Portal is critical in monitoring student academic progress and attendance throughout the school year as well as updating relevant information. It is vital that student contact information is updated such as current home address, primary and secondary phone numbers, medication and allergy information and emergency contacts. Click here to access the Parent Portal link.

Technology Use
Technology : Lightspeed Parent Portal:
Lightspeed Parent Portal
The Lightspeed Parent Portal is available for guardians. This tool will allow guardians to monitor their child's most recent web browsing activities. Guardians will be able to opt into receiving weekly reports of their student’s internet usage and analytics. They will also have the ability to create a Lightspeed Parent Portal account, which will allow them to view their child’s browsing history for the last 7 days.
Step 1: Opt in to receive the usage reports
Step 2: Review the Lightspeed Parent Portal Guide
Chromebooks
-
Please make sure chromebooks are charged daily. Teachers do not have extra chargers and only one extra unit assigned per classroom.
-
Please remind your student(s) to take care of their chromebook by packing it inside their backpack. They should not be etching on the chromebook or adding stickers or decals to the unit.
If a chromebook or charger is not working properly, damaged, and/or lost, please have the student report to their classroom teacher right away.
Cell Phone
At a recent AUSD School Board Meeting, a presentation was shared regarding the Cell Phone Use Policy. Recent legislation: AB272 (2019) Pupil Use of Smartphones and AB3216 Phone Free School Act allows school districts to regulate the use of smartphone and develop policies that limits student access and impacts engagement in the classroom.
The district is working on a Cell Phone Use Policy for Students.

Maestra Zavala, 3rd Grade Dual Language Immersion Program Teacher
|
Maestra Zavala has been an amazing contributor to our PBIS, 3rd grade and DLI teams. Recently, her students were celebrated at the AUSD School Board Meeting for their Literacy Night Performance. Her students are so very appreciative of the work she puts in to her classroom, such as StarBooks Book Tasting Event.

 |
Not Pictured: Ms. Evelyn Castillo, 7th grade Teacher
|
Ms. Castillo was nominated by Mr. Villasenor. Ms. Castillo is such an important member of the Middle School Team and is supportive to colleagues, especially with check-ins regarding our students. "Through it all she always has a "quick minute" to meet and discuss any concerns I may have, and I really appreciate the time and effort. She always puts the students first."

Fremont School is working hard to improve our attendance this school year.
Please avoid scheduling vacations during instructional days. Remember to clear all absences.
Attendance Matters; there are only 180 days in a school year!
-
Chronic Absenteeism (Education Code 60901) is when a student is absent for 10% or more of the school days in one school year, from the date of enrollment to the current date.
-
Chronic absenteeism includes all absences – excused and unexcused – and is an important measure because excessive absences negatively impact academic achievement and student engagement.
Remember to call the school to report student absences or send an email to: [email protected]
