8th Grade Students

8th Grade Challenge Exam

All eligible students, who have registered, will take the 8th grade Challenge Exam in Mandarin or Spanish on January 25th at 10:30.  You will take an earlier recess. You will need your chromebook device and headset.

Middle of Year (MOY) iReady Reading and Math Diagnostic Assessment

Every 8th grader will take the reading and math assessment in January.  These scores will be shared with your high school counselor in order to determine placement in high school courses.

AHS Honors and AP Night

Any student interested in taking an honors class (such as English or Accelerated Math) next year, please plan on attending this event. At AHS on Thursday, January 25 at 5:00 pm 

8th Grade Class Visit

Dr. Chavez and Ms. Lan will be visiting 8th grade classes on Tuesday, February 13th to review the registration process and answer any questions you may have as you prepare for AHS. Packets will be distributed. 

8th Grade Panoramic and Promotion Pictures

On Wednesday, February 14th, all 8th graders will be taking a panoramic picture together and individual pictures. Please dress appropriately and be ready to smile (: 

Course Selection

The window to register for your 9th grade courses opens from February 21-March 1. Please select your courses in Powerschool BEFORE you meet with the AHS counselor.  See handout for more details. Course Selection Guide

8th Grade Zoom Presentation

AHS Counselors will host a Zoom presentation (broadcasted in your class) on Tuesday, February 20th at 8:30 am. Click Here Zoom Link

The sessions will be live with Q&A at the end of the session. Counselors will provide information on courses and programs, as well as extracurricular opportunities available at AHS.

8th Grade Parent Nights for AHS

AHS will host an 8th grade parent night on Thursday, February 22nd at 6pm in the AHS Auditorium. Counselors will provide an overview of the classes and programs available at AHS. Translations will be available in Spanish, Chinese, and ASL. 

PODER Program

Will you be the first to attend college in your family? Receive support for high school success and college applications through the PODER program.  There will be a PODER informational meeting on Thursday, February 22nd from 7-7:45 PM in the AHS Auditorium after 8th Grade Parent Night. 8th Grade Showcase at AHS

We are excited to take a field trip to AHS! We will be taking a school bus to AHS on Friday, March 1st from 9-11 am.  We will board the bus by 8:15 am. You must have a signed permission slip to attend. 

1:1 AHS Counselor Visits

Every 8th grade student will be meeting with an AHS counselor in a 1:1 meeting to review student course selections on Tuesday, March 5th. 

AHS Celebration of Learning

Join AHS in their celebration of learning on Thursday, March 21st from 5-7:45 PM to visit and explore campus.

8th Grade Field Day

We are scheduled for the 8th grade Field Day at Fremont on Wednesday, May 22nd

8th Grade Promotion

We are scheduled for the 8th Grade Promotion at Alhambra Park on Thursday, May 23rd at 11am.

Summer Bridge Program at AHS-TENTATIVE

Summer Bridge for English and Math will be from June 2-July 17.  There will be a session 1 and 2 offering. Students will be able to receive 5 elective credits. More to Come.
